WormsRUsPlus is your portal for gardening, vermi composting, Aviary / Reptile food and fishing bait worm needs. We service Rochester and the surrounding areas and are located in Hilton NY.
For the Gardener
Our gardening supplies also include worm castings, which are the end product of all our worms’ hard work.
Not all worms are the same; there are over four thousand varieties. The most common that we are familiar with are the ones we find in our garden. These worms are known as aerators. Their main purpose is to expel oxygen into the soil and around the roots. When it rains, these are the worms that you see on the sidewalks as their tunnels flood in the rain.
The Worms we Raise
The first species we breed are Red Wigglers (Eisenia Fotida). They are master composters! These are the worms that generate the most compost. They eat an incredibly large volume of food each day.
For the Fisherman
The European Night crawler or (Euro) is the second worm we breed. Scientifically, the Giant Red worm or (Euro) has been known as Dendrobeana and has been newly re-named Eisenia Hortensis. These are the worms that you see in bait shops mostly mislabeled as Red Wigglers.
We hope to have our worms available in bait shops in the area, but in the mean time, you are more than welcome to call 585.820.0043 and stop by to pick up your worms on your way to the lake, river or favorite fishing hole.
Neither of the worms I breed are as big as the Canadian night crawlers or the large garden worms you can find in your garden or backyard. But what they can do is wiggle more than the Canadian night crawlers or the standard brand of garden worm! Both my worms have thicker skins which keeps fish from pulling them off the hook. The both worms i breed do not water log easily as they live in a very damp environment, you will be very surprised as to how long they do last on a fishing hook, wiggling all the whole time. Click on this link to find out how to hook the worms to get the most wiggling action. This hooking procedure can be used for the Canadian earthworms and garden worms but because they become water logged easily and their thin skin they will probably be pulled off the hook before you feel a bite your line.
Both the Red Wiggler (Eisenia Fotida) and the European Night crawler (Dendrobeana and Eisenia Hortensis) worms are good for ice fishing as well as well as brackish water fishing.
